Simply speaking, there are several steps:

1, think about your idea clearly: what you are good at, what kind of website you are going to create, and via what method you r going to make money;

2, choose your domain name and then buy a hosting space. In my opinion, the best domain name is .com, .net, but different countries have different domain names, just do remember that your domain name should be easy to remember and not too long. There are lots of hosting companies such as dreamhost, bluehost, etc. Use google to search “host” and you will get a long list. Do remember that before your website goes large do not buy a very expensive hosting space– it’s a waste of money;

3,choose a software to establish your website. If you are going to create a news or story website, you’d better get a CMS software, if you are going to create a forum or Bulletin Board, you have to choose a BBS software. Again, there are so many free and open source softwares that you do not necessarily buy a commercial one. Free means earning more money.

4,content. Although it is described that this is a web2.0 era– not really. Some “experts” will say that users will create everything in web2.0 era, but that is only what happens in big websites. I’d rather you collect or post the most contents by yourself, or your website will be dead water and nobody would like to visit a blank-content website;

5,to collect content is a very troublesome and boring job, but after you have done that, you will make money by the contents. Just remember do some search engine optimization for your website–what I am saying is “some”, do not even think about increasing a superior visiting flux just and only by optimizing. Optimizing is not cheating, but more liking to be more friendly to search engines.

6,when your website is visited by more and more people, you may do some analysis about your visitors: are the unique visitors, how many of them will come back a second time? where are they from? what is there favorite page or category? It will help you to update the content and attract more visitors.

7, finally, it seems that you made it! Just choose a proper advertisement provider and start to earn money! There are a lot of ad-providers, the most popular one of which is google adsense. Of course, you are able to choose more than one ad to ensure your income. I will probably talk about the skills of choosing an ad later.

8,Hah! you have earned enough money to buy a hamburger! That is a good job, but you have to keep on doing things by yourself until you have got enough money to hire a person to share your work. Good luck!
